Android app privacy

Azaan Alarm Privacy Policy

Azaan Alarm is published by AMK. Most features work entirely on your device. Internet access is used for Quran recitation services and when you choose to open donation, source, or rights links in your browser. This policy applies to the Android application with package name com.supportamk.azaanalarm.

Information stored on your device

The app stores your selected location, calculation method, prayer alarm and reminder choices, bundled or custom Azaan selection, Quran reading preferences, bookmarks, downloaded recitation records, and other app settings locally on your device. These values are used to calculate prayer times, schedule reminders, restore playback, and personalize the app.

Azaan Alarm does not require an account. AMK does not receive these locally stored settings, bookmarks, or download records. Removing app data or uninstalling the app removes its private local data and normally removes Quran audio saved in app-specific storage. Files you export, or custom audio files you selected from another location, remain under your control.

Location

You can choose a location manually. If you tap “Use GPS once,” the app asks for approximate or precise location permission and requests a single device location. The resulting coordinates, place label, and time zone are saved locally and used for prayer calculations and Qibla direction. The app does not continuously track your location or send it to AMK.

Depending on your Android device, its location and geocoding provider may process a location request to determine a place name. Those system services are controlled by your device provider and their privacy terms. You can deny location permission and select a location manually.

Offline Quran and online recitations

Quran text, Surah information, and available translations are bundled for offline reading. Search and bookmarks are processed locally.

When you refresh the reciter catalogue, stream a recitation, or download Surah audio, the app connects to mp3quran.net and its recitation servers. Those servers receive ordinary technical request information, such as your IP address, requested URL or file, request time, and the app’s network user agent. AMK does not operate those servers and does not receive your Quran listening history from the app.

Data collection and sharing

The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, account system, or remote crash-reporting SDK. It does not sell personal data or send app settings, bookmarks, or location to AMK.

Network requests made for online recitations and system-provided location services are described above. Your mobile or internet provider also handles normal network traffic under its own privacy practices.

Permissions and special access

  • Location: requested only when you choose one-time GPS setup; manual location remains available.
  • Notifications and full-screen alarms: display prayer reminders, playback controls, and the lock-screen ringing screen.
  • Exact alarms: schedule Azaan and Kaza alarms as close as Android allows to the calculated prayer time.
  • Foreground services, wake lock, and vibration: keep active audio or downloads visible and help alarms sound while the device is idle.
  • Boot completed: restores scheduled alarms after a device restart.
  • Network access: refreshes the reciter catalogue, streams recitations, and downloads audio you request.
  • Battery settings: when you tap Allow, requests Android’s battery-optimization exemption for the app to reduce delayed alarms.
  • Custom audio: Android’s system file picker grants the app persistent access only to the audio document you select. The app does not request broad audio or media access.

You can review or remove permissions in Android system settings. Removing a permission may disable the related feature but does not stop offline Quran reading or manual location selection.

Backup and restore

When you export settings, Android asks you where to save a backup file. When you restore settings, you choose the file yourself. The exported JSON file is plain text and can contain precise coordinates, place and time-zone details, alarm and reminder settings, selected Azaan identifiers, and references to custom audio documents. These files are under your control. The app does not automatically upload backups to AMK, although a storage provider you choose may sync the file under that provider’s terms.

Android automatic app backup is disabled for Azaan Alarm.

Content sources

The app includes Quran data and selectable Azaan recordings from credited third-party sources. Their attributions, source links, licences, and rights statements are published in the Azaan Alarm content sources and third-party notices. Source and rights links selected inside the app open in your external browser.

Donation website

The optional Donate page explains that donations unlock no app features. If you continue, it opens supportamk.com in your chosen browser. Azaan Alarm does not receive or store payment details. The website, payment app, and payment provider operate separately under their own privacy practices.

Children’s privacy

Azaan Alarm is a general prayer and Quran utility. AMK does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users through the app.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when the app’s functionality, service providers, or legal requirements change. For privacy questions, email info@supportamk.com.
