Android app privacy

Duplicate Inspector Privacy Policy

Duplicate Inspector is published by AMK. It processes files locally on your device and does not upload files or scan results. This policy applies to the Android application with package name com.amk.duplicatedetector.

Information processed on your device

To find duplicates, the app may read file names, folder paths or document URIs, file sizes, modification dates, file types, and file content. It creates content hashes and media previews locally. These values are used only to display scan progress and duplicate groups on your device.

Scan results are held in app memory and are not sent to AMK or any third party. Your selected folder reference and scan preferences are stored locally so you can continue with the same settings. You can forget the selected folder in Settings or remove local settings by uninstalling the app.

Data collection and sharing

The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, account system, or remote crash-reporting SDK. It does not collect, sell, or share personal data, and the app has no Internet permission.

Permissions

  • Folder access: Android’s system folder picker grants access only to a folder you select.
  • All files access: This optional special access is used only when you choose whole-phone scanning. It lets the app inspect supported files and delete only files you select and confirm.
  • Notifications: Optional notification access displays progress while a scan continues in the background.
  • Foreground service and wake lock: These keep a user-started scan running and visible to Android while you switch apps or turn off the screen.

Permissions can be reviewed or removed in Duplicate Inspector Settings or Android system settings. Folder scanning remains available without All files access.

File deletion

Duplicate Inspector never deletes a file automatically. A file is deleted only after you select it and confirm the permanent deletion warning. The app requires at least one file to remain in each duplicate group. Deleted files cannot be restored by Duplicate Inspector.

Donation website

The optional Donate action opens supportamk.com in your chosen browser. Duplicate Inspector does not receive or store payment details. The website and any payment app operate separately and are covered by their own privacy practices. Donations do not unlock app features.

Children’s privacy

Duplicate Inspector is a general file-management utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes and contact

This policy may be updated when the app’s functionality or legal requirements change. For privacy questions, email info@supportamk.com.
