Med Alarm Privacy Policy

Information stored on your device

Med Alarm can store medicine names and categories, doses and units, instructions and notes, schedules, course dates, repeat plans, food-gap choices, today-only time changes, routine times, adherence and alarm-fire history, app settings, active alarm state, scheduled-alarm state, and diagnostic or crash events. These records are health-related information that you enter or create by using the app.

This information is kept in Android app-private storage and is not sent to AMK. Ordinary medicine records, history, settings, and diagnostics rely on Android’s app-private storage and device protections; they are not separately encrypted by the app. Do not give other people access to an unlocked device if these records are sensitive.

Diagnostic storage retains up to 250 recent events. Those events may include medicine names, alarm times, errors, and technical stack traces so that you can troubleshoot the app.

Medicine photos and the camera

A medicine photo is optional. Gallery selection uses Android’s document picker. Camera capture uses your external camera app with a temporary private FileProvider link. Med Alarm requests neither camera permission nor broad photo or storage access.

The app copies a selected or captured image into private storage and encrypts that copy with AES-GCM using a key held by Android Keystore. A gallery original remains in its original location. Normal temporary camera files are deleted after import. Deleting a gallery original does not remove the encrypted copy stored by Med Alarm.

Lock-screen and notification visibility

Full-screen alerts and public alarm notifications can display a medicine name, dose, time, instructions, and optional photo on the lock screen. Someone near your phone may therefore see health-related information without unlocking it.

Review Android’s lock-screen notification settings and consider disabling full-screen ringing if this is sensitive. Changing those settings may make reminders less noticeable.

Backups and recovery password

Optional portable .medbackup files can include medicines, schedules, adherence and alarm history, overrides, routine times, settings, and photos. They exclude the app’s diagnostic-event store. Backups remain under your control and are created only through app features you enable or use.

New backup files use AES-GCM encryption with a key derived from a password of at least eight characters using PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256. If you let Med Alarm remember the recovery password locally, that password is itself encrypted using Android Keystore. AMK cannot recover a forgotten password. Anyone who has both the backup file and its password can restore its contents.

Android automatic app backup and device transfer are disabled for Med Alarm. A portable backup saved outside the app remains after you choose Delete all local app data, clear Android app storage, or uninstall the app. Delete external backup files separately when you no longer need them. A storage provider you choose may sync a backup under that provider’s privacy terms.

Reports, clipboard, and sharing

Medicine-history reports can contain schedules, doses, instructions, notes, routine information, statuses, and alarm timestamps. App-health reports can additionally include the device model, Android and app versions, time zone, permission status, and diagnostic or crash details.

No report leaves the device automatically. When you choose Copy or Share, Android sends it to the clipboard or to an app or service you select. Review the report first and share it only with a recipient you trust, including before pasting it into an AI service. The receiving app or service applies its own privacy terms.

Permissions and special access

• Notifications and full-screen alarms: show medicine reminders and the ringing screen, including while the device is locked.
• Exact alarms: schedule reminders as close as Android allows to the times you enter.
• Foreground service, wake lock, and vibration: help an active alarm stay noticeable while the device is idle.
• Boot completed and time changes: restore or recalculate scheduled alarms after a restart, app update, date change, time change, or time-zone change.
• System document picker and camera app: let you choose or capture an optional photo without broad media access or a camera permission.

The app requests no Internet, location, contacts, microphone, SMS, calendar, or broad-storage permission. You can review or remove permissions in Android system settings, although removing alarm or notification access may prevent reminders from appearing.

Deleting data

Deleting a medicine removes its current record and private photo. Historical dose and alarm entries containing that medicine’s name may remain so that past activity can still be reviewed.

Use Delete all local app data, Android Clear storage, or uninstall the app to clear its private schedules, history, settings, diagnostics, and photos. External portable backup files are never removed automatically and must be deleted separately.

Donation website

Med Alarm is free and donations unlock no features. If you choose its optional donation action, Android opens supportamk.com in your selected browser. The browser, website, payment app, and payment provider operate separately under their own privacy practices. Med Alarm does not receive or store payment details.

Medical and alarm reliability notice

Med Alarm is not a medical device and is not medical advice. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, check drug interactions, calculate doses, or recommend treatment. Verify every medicine, dose, time, course, and food-gap setting against the medicine label and with a qualified doctor or pharmacist.

Selecting Homeopathy prefills an editable 20-minute before or after food gap as a convenience only. That preset is not medically validated advice and must be checked for the specific medicine.

Android permissions, battery restrictions, Force Stop, phone shutdown, manufacturer settings, and other system conditions can delay or prevent alarms. Do not use Med Alarm as your only reminder for critical medication. For a missed or incorrect dose, seek professional guidance; for an emergency, contact local emergency services.

Children’s privacy

AMK does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users through the app. A parent or caregiver should supervise entries and medicine decisions for a child.
